Poppins

If you're wandering around Worcester and find yourself near The Foregate, there’s one place you shouldn’t miss-Poppins. Located at 18 The Foregate, WR1 3QF, this long-standing British eatery brings the kind of charm, comfort, and consistency that’s getting harder to find in today's fast-moving food scene.

What immediately strikes you at Poppins is how it feels like a true classic. No gimmicks, no trendy fluff-just honest food served with a warm smile. It’s the kind of place where you can roll in at 8 AM craving a Full English Breakfast, and walk out feeling like you've been personally looked after. From the crispy bacon to the perfectly runny eggs and that satisfying sizzle of sausage, it hits all the right notes. Add a frothy cappuccino to the mix and you’re off to a brilliant start.

The menu at Poppins is a celebration of British comfort food, with something to please every palate. The Cottage Pie is a clear standout-rich, meaty, and blanketed with golden mash that’s creamy with just the right amount of crust. If you're in the mood for something heartier, the Gammon and Egg comes in generous portions, always cooked fresh and served with chips or mash depending on your mood.

For seafood lovers, the Battered Cod and Chips is exactly what you’d hope for: crunchy outside, flaky inside, served hot with a wedge of lemon and tartar sauce. You’ll also find familiar classics like Scampi and Chips, or lighter options like a Ham Salad or Cheese and Beans Jacket Potato, all done with the same level of care and no-fuss presentation.

And it’s not just the mains that shine here. The breakfast items deserve special mention. Think Eggs Benedict, Scrambled Eggs on Brown Toast, or the ever-popular Mashed Avocado with Poached Egg on Toast for something that feels more current without straying from simplicity. It’s easy to see why Poppins is popular for breakfast and lunch, especially for solo diners looking for a reliable, cozy spot to unwind.

Craving something sweet or just need a warm hug in a mug? Their drinks and desserts lineup doesn’t disappoint. The Hot Chocolate is rich and indulgent, while the Cappuccino Latte is ideal for a midday recharge. Don’t overlook their Ice Cream Solo for a nostalgic treat-simple, refreshing, and satisfying.

From a practical standpoint, Poppins checks all the boxes for accessibility and convenience. The wheelchair-accessible entrance and seating make it welcoming for all, and whether you want to sit down for a quiet meal or grab a quick takeaway fish and chips, they’ve got you covered. With delivery, no-contact delivery, takeaway, and dine-in options, it’s built to fit your lifestyle, not the other way around.

What sets Poppins apart isn’t flashy decor or viral menu items-it’s that consistent, down-to-earth quality that locals trust and visitors remember. The quick bite options, the strong tea selection, and even a cheeky pint of beer if you fancy one-this place feels more like home than a commercial chain ever could.

Whether you’re popping in for a solo lunch, meeting a friend for a hot drink, or fueling up with a full breakfast, Poppins delivers exactly what you came for. No frills, just flavour.

Poppins in Worcester, UK, is my go-to spot for a fantastic full English breakfast. I've been a loyal customer for years, and for good reason. The food is consistently delicious, the staff are friendly, and the atmosphere is cozy. If you're in Worcester and craving a hearty breakfast, Poppins is the place to go!

Poppins is a real old school Family run cafe, cosy and friendly, with a classic cafe menu. We were staying nearby and headed over for breakfast getting the Big Breakfast and the Favourite Five breakfast. It wasn't fancy but it was just what we were looking for a proper fry up to start the day.

Simple but traditional meals and breakfasts. Really recommended. The price has gone up over the years but that's the case with everywhere. We thought the Favourite Five breakfast and pancakes were excellent but maybe share the pancake as two was a bit much for one person I'd say! I especially liked the art on the walls in this one. Mocha was brilliant.
